I gave it 4 stars, because there are deep steps down to the falls. The boardwalk is about 1000 feet to the falls. Parking is off Hayden Run Road and is marked “GRIGGS NATURE PRESERVE”
The stairs are are very steep so those with issues should probably not attempt. Good for a quick 2 minute look.
We were looking for dog friendly hikes near Columbus and the pictures for this park looked nice. The parking lot is VERY small, I'm talking 6-8 spaces. The sign doesn't say Hayden Falls, it says Griggs Reservoir. It's a very small park, it took us about 2 minutes to go from the parking lot down to the small waterfall. It's just a boardwalk you follow down the steps and out to a platform. It was nice for what it was, but not the dog friendly hike we were looking for. We spent about 10 minutes there and left.
The falls were pretty but people jumped the fence to play on the rocks and in the water. If it was meant to be played in, there would be access, but there is isn't....so get out.
Loved taking my pupper here for her first 'nature dog' experience. Clean and serene place to escape for a few.
Great, beautiful little waterfall. We went during a drier season, so it wasn't flowing as much, but it was still beautiful to see. The parking, however, is atrocious. There are very few spots, and it can be quite difficult getting in and out.
